Theprotein binds both insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) I and II and circulatesin the plasma. Binding of this protein prolongs the half-life of the IGFs andalters their interaction with cell surface receptors. Alternatetranscriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have beencharacterized. |
