Cat. No. : IL6-363H
Description : IL-6 is a protein thatin humans is encoded by the IL6 gene. IL-6 is an interleukin that acts asboth a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine. It is secreted by Tcells and macrophages to stimulate immune response, e.g. during infection andafter trauma, especially burns or other tissue damage leading toinflammation. In terms of host response to a foreign pathogen duringinfection, IL-6 has been shown, in mice, to be required for resistanceagainst the bacterium.
Source : Yeast (PichiaPastoris)
Species : Human
Form : The recombinanthuman IL-6 is admitted in PBS and free of any other protein Quantity andconcentration is stated on the vial label. The IL-6 protein concentration isdetermined by ELISA and by bioassay.
Molecular Weight : 23.9 kDa
Purity : >95% on SDS-PAgel electrophoresis.
Endotoxin Level : Determined withLAL-assay, below 0.01 EU/ug.
Biological Activity : Biological activityof IL-6 is>5 x10⁷ IU/ml. Biological activity of IL-6 wasquantified using B9 assay.
Reconstitution : Centrifuge vialprior to opening. First add sterile distilled water to the vial to fully solubilizethe protein to a concentration not less than 100 ug/ml. After completesolubilization of the protein, it can be further diluted to other aqueoussolutions.
Storage : The material isstable at 37°C forweeks. Also at lower temperatures, IL-6 is a very robustand stable molecule. Repeated freezing and thawing does not affect itsbiological activity; it is not known whether its leads to dimerization.
