Cat. No.

BDNF-5367H

Product Overview

Recombinant humanBDNF is a homodimeric, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 2 x 119amino acids.

Description

BDNF, is a protein that,in humans, is encoded by the BDNF gene. BDNF is a member of the "neurotrophin"family of growth factors, which are related to the canonical "NerveGrowth Factor", NGF. Neurotrophic factors are found in the brain and theperiphery.

Source

E. coli

Species

Human

Form

Lyophilized from asterile filtered solution after dialysis against 20 mM sodium citrate buffer,pH 5.0.

Molecular Weight

26.984 kDa

Purity

>96.0% asdetermined by RP-HPLC and SDS-PAGE analyses.

Endotoxin Level

<0.1 ng/ug ofBDNF

Biological Activity

Determined by thedose-dependent induction of ACHE (acetylcholine esterase) in rat basalforebrain primary septal culture. The ED5O is 50 ng/ml.

Amino Acid Sequence

The sequence of thefirst five N-terminal amino acids is Met-His-Ser-Asp-Pro.

Reconstitution

Centrifuge vialprior to opening. First add sterile distilled water to the vial to fullysolubilize the protein to a concentration not less than 100 pg/ml. Aftercomplete solubilization of the protein, it can be further diluted to otheraqueous solutions.

Storage

Store lyophilizedprotein at -20oC to -80oC. Reconstituted protein is stable for 1 week at2-4oC. For long term storage, aliquot and store at -20oC to -80oC with acarrier protein (0.1%HSA or BSA) as a stabilizer. Please note that the additionof any carrier protein into this product may produce unwanted endotoxin. Thisdepends upon the particular application employed. Avoid repeated freeze-thawcycles.
