Cat. No. : RETN-61H
Overview : Human Resistin Recombinant Protein was expressed in E. coli with amino acids Ser17-Pro108 accession number NP_065148.
Description : Resistin is a peptide hormone belonging to the RELM (Resistin-Like Molecule) family that also includes RELMα, RELMβ, and RELMγ. In mice, resistin is secreted in high levels by adipocytes, and overexpression has been linked to insulin resistance and obesity. The link between resistin and glucose metabolism in humans is still unclear, and it has instead been found to play a role in the inflammatory process. The main source of resistin in humans is peripheral blood monocytes, which upregulate expression in response to IL-6 and TNFα. Elevated levels of circulating resistin are associated with chronic inflammatory conditions and cardiovascular disease.
Source : E. coli
Species : Human
Predicted MolecularMass : 9.9 kDa
Formulation : Sterile liquid; phosphate buffered saline 1% BSA, pH 7.2. 0.22 um filtered.
Purity : > 97%, as determined by SDS-PAGE
Concentration : 0.1 mg/mL
Endotoxin : Less than 0.1 ng/ug cytokine as determined by the LAL assay.
Bioactivity : The ED50 of this protein, as measured by stimulation of lypolysis in human adipocytes, is 7-30 ug/mL. This corresponds to a specific activity of 143-33 Units/mg.
