Description : The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. This group of proteins is characterized by a polybasic proteolytic processing site which is cleaved to produce a mature protein containing seven conserved cysteine residues. The members of this family are regulators of cell growth and differentiation in both embryonic and adult tissues. Studies in mice and Xenopus suggest that this protein is involved in mesodermal formation and neurogenesis during embryonic development.
Source : E. coli
Species : Human
Tag : His
Form : Lyophilized protein. Lyophilized from 10 mM Sodium Citrate, pH 3.5.
Bio-activity : The protein is biologically active as determined by its ability to induce alkaline phosphatase production by C2C12 cells. The ED50 is in the range of 0.4-4 µg/ml.
Molecular Mass : 32.6 kDa
Endotoxin : <0.1 ng/μg
Purity : ≥98% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
Storage : The lyophilized protein is best-stored desiccated below 0°C. Reconstituted BMP-11 should be stored in working aliquots at -20°C.
Reconstitution : Reconstitute to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml in water containing BSA (50 μg BSA per 1 μg of protein). This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers.
