Species : | Human |
Enzyme Unit : | Each ampoule contains 400 International Units. |
Usage : | No attempt should be made to weigh out any portion of the freeze-dried material prior to reconstitution. The total contents of the ampoule should be reconstituted with 1.0ml distilled water and dissolved by gentle mixing. No attempt should be made to weigh out any portion of the freeze- dried material. The reconstituted standard should be used as soon as possible and unused material should be discarded. |
Notes : | This preparation is not for administration to humans. The preparation contains material of human origin, and either the final product or the source materials, from which it is derived, have been tested and found negative for HBsAg, anti-HIV and HCV RNA. As with all materials of biological origin, this preparation should be regarded as potentially hazardous to health. It should be used and discarded according to your own laboratorys safety procedures. Such safety procedures should include the wearing of protective gloves and avoiding the generation of aerosols. Care should be exercised in opening ampoules or vials, to avoid cuts. |
Stability : | Reference materials are held at Creative Biomart within assured, temperature- controlled storage facilities. Reference Materials should be stored on receipt as indicated on the label. PF4 activity which had been stored at 37 °C, 45 °C, and 56 °C was compared with samples of the same material which had been stored at –20 °C. From the Arrhenius equation relating degradation rate to absolute temperature, the predicted loss of activity at -20 °C is 0.01% per year (upper 95% confidence limit: 0.149% per year). |
Storage : | Unopened ampoules should be stored in the dark at or below –20°C. Please note: because of the inherent stability of lyophilized material, Creative Biomart may ship these materials at ambient temperature. |

Q&As (5)
Ask a questionSome research has explored the development of antibodies targeting PF4 to mitigate its pro-inflammatory effects, although such treatments are still in the early stages of investigation.
PF4 can promote inflammation by recruiting and activating immune cells, such as monocytes and neutrophils, at the site of inflammation.
Management often involves discontinuing heparin and initiating alternative anticoagulation strategies, such as direct thrombin inhibitors or fondaparinux.
Yes, elevated PF4 levels have been associated with various inflammatory states, making it a potential biomarker for certain diseases.
ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is commonly used to detect anti-PF4/heparin antibodies in patients suspected of having HIT.
