Description : | Cellular uptake of iron occurs via receptor-mediated endocytosis of ligand-occupied transferrin receptor into specialized endosomes. Endosomal acidification leads to iron release. The apotransferrin-receptor complex is then recycled to the cell surface with a return to neutral pH and the concomitant loss of affinity of apotransferrin for its receptor. Transferrin receptor is necessary for development of erythrocytes and the nervous system. Acts as a lipid sensor that regulates mitochondrial fusion by regulating activation of the JNK pathway. |

Q&As (5)
Ask a questionYes, TFRC's presence on cell surfaces has been exploited for the development of targeted drug delivery systems, especially for delivering drugs to cancer cells.
Yes, some experimental therapies aim to target TFRC on cancer cells, such as antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and small-molecule inhibitors.
Yes, dysregulation of TFRC expression or function can be associated with various medical conditions, including anemia, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.
Researchers use techniques like immunohistochemistry and molecular assays to study TFRC expression levels in patient samples. This helps in diagnosis and prognosis.
Understanding TFRC expression in the context of anemia can help identify the underlying causes and guide treatment strategies to improve iron uptake.
Customer Reviews (3)
Write a reviewIn addition to the advantages of GAD1 protein itself, the manufacturer can play a crucial role in supporting the research efforts.
This quality control is essential for obtaining reliable and reproducible data, as any variability in protein quality can introduce confounding factors into experiments.
This versatility enables researchers to explore GAD1's function and role in a range of biological processes, making it a valuable tool across diverse research fields.
