Cat. No. : GDF11-242
Description : GDF-11 is a myostatin-homologous protein that acts as an inhibitor of nerve tissue growth. GDF-11 has been shown to suppress neurogenesis through a myostatin-like pathway, which involves arrest of progenitor cell-cycle in the G1 phase. Similarities between myostatin and GDF-11, which are 90% identical in their amino acid sequence, suggests that the regulatory mechanisms responsible for maintaining proper tissue size during neural and muscular development might be the same.
Source : E.coli.
Purity : > 98% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analysis.
Endotoxin level : < 0.1 ng per μg of Galectin-1.
Stabilizer : None.
Formulation : Lyophilized.
Biologically Activity : The ED50 was determined by its ability to inhibit induced alkaline phosphatase production by ATDC-5 chondrogenic cells. The expected ED50 for this effect is 0.08-0.10 μg/ml.
Reconstitution : The human GDF-11 should be reconstituted in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at 4°Cfor one week or -20°Cfor future use.
Stability : The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20°C. Reconstituted GDF-11 is stable for at least 3 months when stored in working aliquots with a carrier protein at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
