Description : | Death-associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1) is a positive mediator of apoptosis induced by γ-interferon. Activation of DAPK occurs via dephosphorylation of Ser-308 and subsequent association of calcium/calmodulin. DAPK is rapidly dephosphorylated in response to tumor necrosis factor or ceramide and then subsequently degraded via proteasome activity. The decline in DAPK expression is paralleled with increased caspase activity and cell apoptosis. Studies suggest that the apoptosis regulatory activities mediated by DAPK are controlled both by phosphorylation status and protein stability. |

Q&As (6)
Ask a questionDAPK1 plays an important role in apoptosis, which can promote the process of apoptosis.
There are currently no drugs that directly regulate DAPK1 levels, but some DAPK1-related diseases can be treated by modulating its activity or regulating its expression.
DAPK1 has a complex relationship with other genes or proteins, and can interact with other genes or proteins to participate in a variety of biochemical reactions.
Mutations in DAPK1 can be detected and analyzed by methods such as whole-genome sequencing or target region sequencing to understand the impact of mutations on protein structure and function.
The types of mutations in DAPK1 include point mutations, insertions/deletions, duplications, etc., which may cause structural and functional abnormalities of the protein.
Studying the regulatory mechanism of DAPK1 requires a comprehensive use of various experimental methods and techniques, such as gene knockout, transcriptome analysis, and protein-protein interactions.
