Description : | The protein encoded by this gene is a serine/threonine protein kinase that is activated by autophosphorylation after binding to dsRNA. The activated form of the encoded protein can phosphorylate translation initiation factor EIF2S1, which in turn inhibits protein synthesis. This protein is also activated by manganese ions and heparin. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene. |
Biological activity : | The Specific activity of EIF2AK2-31020TH was determined to be 53-59 nmol/min/mg dependent on lot. |

Ask a questionEIF2AK2 can be involved in the regulation of apoptosis by triggering the apoptotic process by inducing eIF2α phosphorylation.
Yes, in addition to the primary EIF2AK gene, there are other coding variants that may have different functions and expression patterns.
Studies have shown that EIF2AK2 abnormal expression levels in some tumors may be related to the occurrence and progression of tumors.
Abnormal EIF2AK2 expression levels may be due to genetic mutations, chromosomal abnormalities, environmental factors, etc.
Studies have shown that EIF2AK2 can participate in the regulation of antiviral immune responses and affect the course of viral infections.
EIF2AK2 can be used as a target for the development of new drugs, especially in the areas of neurodegenerative diseases and autoimmune diseases.
