Description : | This gene encodes a member of the disulfide isomerase (PDI) family of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) proteins that catalyze protein folding and thiol-disulfide interchange reactions. The encoded protein has an N-terminal ER-signal sequence, a catalytically active thioredoxin domain, and a C-terminal ER-retention sequence. This gene is expressed in ciliated airway epithelial cells and, in mouse, plays a role in ciliary beat frequency in multiciliated cells. This gene is also over-expressed in breast, ovarian, and prostrate cancers. |

Q&As (10)
Ask a questionThe interaction partners of AGR3 can be identified using techniques such as co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP), yeast two-hybrid assays, or proximity-dependent biotin identification (BioID).
AGR3 is thought to promote cancer cell survival, proliferation, and metastasis by modulating cellular signaling pathways and interacting with other proteins involved in cancer progression.
The exact mechanisms are still being elucidated, but AGR3 has been shown to interact with proteins involved in cell adhesion, invasion, and apoptosis, contributing to cancer phenotypes.
AGR3 protein samples should be stored at -80°C to maintain their stability and prevent degradation. It is advisable to aliquot the protein to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
The purification of AGR3 protein can be achieved through techniques such as affinity chromatography, size-exclusion chromatography, or ion-exchange chromatography.
AGR3 expression is regulated by androgen receptor signaling in prostate cancer cells, and it may play a role in mediating androgen-dependent growth and survival.
Targeting AGR3 is an area of active research, and potential strategies such as small molecule inhibitors or immunotherapies are being explored for therapeutic interventions.
AGR3 expression can be detected and quantified using techniques such as immunohistochemistry, immunoblotting, and molecular assays like quantitative PCR (qPCR) or RNA sequencing.
Limited animal models, such as mouse models, have been utilized to study AGR3 function in specific tissues or diseases, providing insights into its physiological roles.
Similar to AGR2, AGR3 can be secreted into the extracellular space, where it may interact with other proteins and potentially influence cell signaling and behavior.
