CBX8

  • Official Full Name

    chromobox homolog 8

  • Overview

The family of Heterochromatin Proteins ("Chromobox Homolog", CBX) are highly conserved adapter molecules,Which have important functions in the cell nucleus. These functions include gene repression by heterochromatin formation, transcriptional activation, regulation of binding of cohesion complexes to centromere, sequesteration of genes to nuclear periphery, transcriptional arrest, maintenance of heterochromatin integrity, gene repression at single nucleosome level and gene repression by heterochromatization of euchromatin.

CBX8 has several biochemical functions, for example, methylated histone binding, protein binding, single-stranded RNA binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by CBX8 itself. We selected most functions CBX8 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with CBX8. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

CBX8 has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with CBX8 here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of CBX8.
