CCBL1

  • Official Full Name

    cysteine conjugate-beta lyase, cytoplasmic

  • Overview

This gene encodes a cytosolic enzyme that is responsible for the metabolism of cysteine conjugates of certain halogenated alkenes and alkanes. This metabolism can form reactive metabolites leading to nephrotoxicity and neurotoxicity. Increased levels of this enzyme have been linked to schizophrenia. Multiple transcript variants that encode different isoforms have been identified for this gene.

CCBL1 has several biochemical functions, for example, L-glutamine:pyruvate aminotransferase activity, L-phenylalanine:pyruvate aminotransferase activity, cysteine-S-conjugate beta-lyase activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by CCBL1 itself. We selected most functions CCBL1 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with CCBL1. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
