ITCH

  • Official Full Name

    itchy E3 ubiquitin protein ligase

  • Overview

This gene encodes a member of the Nedd4 family of HECT domain E3 ubiquitin ligases. HECT domain E3 ubiquitin ligases transfer ubiquitin from E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes to protein substrates, thus targeting specific proteins for lysosomal degradation. The encoded protein plays a role in multiple cellular processes including erythroid and lymphoid cell differentiation and the regulation of immune responses. Mutations in this gene are a cause of syndromic multisystem autoimmune disease. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. ITCH has several biochemical functions, for example, CXCR chemokine receptor binding, ligase activity, protein binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by ITCH itself. We selected most functions ITCH had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with ITCH. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

ITCH has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with ITCH here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of ITCH.
