NCAPD2

  • Official Full Name

    non-SMC condensin I complex, subunit D2

  • Overview

CNAP1/hCAP-D2 is a regulatory subunit of the condensin complex, a complex required for conversion of interphase chromatin into mitotic-like condensed chromosomes. The condensin complex probably introduces positive supercoils into relaxed DNA in the presence of type I topoisomerases and converts nicked DNA into positive knotted forms in the presence of type II topoisomerases. It may target the condensin complex to DNA via its C-terminal domain (referenced from Swissprot).

NCAPD2 has several biochemical functions, for example, chromatin binding, histone binding, protein binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by NCAPD2 itself. We selected most functions NCAPD2 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with NCAPD2. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
