NMT1

Official Full Name
N-myristoyltransferase 1
-
Overview
Myristate, a rare 14-carbon saturated fatty acid, is cotranslationally attached by an amide linkage to the N-terminal glycine residue of cellular and viral proteins with diverse functions. N-myristoyltransferase (NMT; EC 2.3.1.97) catalyzes the transfer of myristate from CoA to proteins. N-myristoylation appears to be irreversible and is required for full expression of the biologic activities of several N-myristoylated proteins, including the alpha subunit of the signal-transducing guanine nucleotide-binding protein (G protein) GO (GNAO1; MIM 139311) (Duronio et al., 1992 -

NMT1 has several biochemical functions, for example, glycylpeptide N-tetradecanoyltransferase activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by NMT1 itself. We selected most functions NMT1 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with NMT1. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

NMT1 has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with NMT1 here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of NMT1.
