PKLR

  • Official Full Name

    pyruvate kinase, liver and RBC

  • Overview

The protein encoded by this gene is a pyruvate kinase that catalyzes the transphosphorylation of phohsphoenolpyruvate into pyruvate and ATP, which is the rate-limiting step of glycolysis. Defects in this enzyme, due to gene mutations or genetic variations, are the common cause of chronic hereditary nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia (CNSHA or HNSHA). Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

PKLR has several biochemical functions, for example, ATP binding, kinase activity, magnesium ion binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by PKLR itself. We selected most functions PKLR had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with PKLR. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

PKLR has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with PKLR here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of PKLR.
