Recombinant Human Oncostatin M

Cat. No.: OSM-358H
Product Overview: Recombinant Human OSM(209 aa) is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 209 aminoacids.
Description: OSM is a growth anddifferentiation factor that participates in the regulation ofneurogenesis, osteogenesis and hematopoiesis. Produced by activated T cells, monocytes and Kaposi"s sarcoma cells, OSM can exert both stimulatory and inhibitoryeffects on cell proliferation. It stimulates the proliferation of fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells and Kaposi"s sarcoma cells, but, inhibits the growth ofsome normal and tumor cell lines. It also promotes cytokine release from endothelialcells, and enhances the expression of low-density lipoprotein receptor in hepatomacells. OSM share several structural and functional characteristics with LIF,IL-6, and CNTF. Human OSM is active on mouse cells.
Source: Human
Host: E. coli
Form: Lyophilized from a0.2 μm sterile filtered solution of PBS, pH 7.4.
Purity: >97% by SDS-PAGEand HPLC analyses.
Molecular Weight: 23.9 kDa
Biological Activity: Fully biologicallyactive when compared to the standard. The ED50 as determined by the dose dependentstimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells is < 2 ng/ml.
Endotoxin: < 0.1 ng/μg
Reconstitution: Centrifugevial prior to opening. Add sterile distilled water or aqueousbuffer containing 0.1% BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Please notethat the addition of any carrier protein into this product may produceunwanted endotoxin. This depends upon the particular application employed. Furtherdilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.
Storage: Stable at2-8°C, but best kept desiccated -20°C. Upon reconstitution, stable for up to1 week at 2-8°C. For longer term, store in working aliquots below -20°C. Avoidrepeated freeze/thaw cycles.
