Cat. No. : | RETN-63H |
Overview : | Human Resistin Recombinant Protein was expressed in E. coli with 9.9 kDa protein containing 93 amino acid residues and purified by Two-step procedure using size exclusion chromatography before and after refolding. |
Description : | Resistin, a product of the RSTN gene, is a peptide hormone belonging to the class of cysteine-rich secreted proteins which is termed the RELM family, and is also described as ADSF (Adipose Tissue- Specific Secretory Factor) and FIZZ3 (Found in Inflammatory Zone). Human resistin contains 108 amino acids as a prepeptide, and its hydrofobic signal peptide is cleaved before its secretion. Resistin circulates in human blood as a dimeric protein consisting of two 92 amino acid polypeptides, which are disulfide-linked via Cys26. |
Source : | E. coli. |
Species : | Human |
Predicted MolecularMass : | 9.9 kDa |
Formulation : | Recombinant Human Resistin was lyophilized from a concentrated (1mg/ml) solution containing 0.03% NaHCO3. |
Purity : | Greater than 98% as determined by SDS-PAGE. |
Specificity : | The amino acid sequence of the Resistin Human Recombinant is homologous to the amino acid sequence of the Resistin Human without signal sequence. |
Solubility : | Add 0.2 ml of deionized water and let the lyophilized pellet dissolve completely. |
Bioactivity : | The biological activity was evidenced by the Resistin ability to prevent insulin-stimulated uptake of deoxy glucose in several cell lines at 10 ng/ml concentration corresponding to a Specific Activity of 100,000IU/mg. |
Storage & Stability : | Store lyophilized protein at -20°C. Aliquot the product after reconstitution to avoid repeated freezing/thawing cycles. Reconstituted protein can be stored at 4°C for a limited period of time; it does not show any change after two weeks at 4°C. |

Q&As (6)
Ask a questionExpression level of RETN is associated with the development of insulin resistance. High levels of RETN can reduce insulin sensitivity, leading to decreased glycemic control, which promotes the development of insulin resistance.
Studies have shown that regulating the expression level of RETN can influence the development and treatment effect of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. For example, certain drugs can improve insulin sensitivity and control blood sugar levels by inhibiting the expression level of RETN.
Diabetes and cardiovascular disease can be predicted and diagnosed by measuring the expression level of RETN. For example, high levels of RETN may indicate a higher risk of disease and more severe disease conditions.
Mutations and expression levels of the RETN gene can be detected to aid in diagnosing disease and assessing prognosis. For example, certain mutations may predict a higher risk and a worse prognosis.
Mutations or abnormal expression of RETN may be associated with a variety of diseases. For example, certain mutations can lead to abnormally elevated levels of their expression, increasing the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc.
RETN has some association with other biomarkers. For example, in obesity and cardiovascular disease, the expression level of RETN can be used to assess the prognosis and therapeutic effect of the disease together with biomarkers such as adiponectin and leptin.
