Description : Clostridium difficile toxin A (TcdA) is a toxin generated by Clostridium difficile. It is similar to Clostridium difficile Toxin B. The toxins are the main virulence factors produced by the gram positive, anaerobic, Clostridium difficile bacteria. The toxins function by damaging the intestinal mucosa and cause the symptoms of C. difficile infection, including pseudomembranous colitis.

Bio-activity : Each lot of C. difficile toxin A is tested to confirm binding activity to fresh rabbit red blood cells using a hemagglutination assay
Molecular Mass : This preparation migrated as a single major band of molecular weight> 200,000 daltons and several minor aggregate bands when run on a 3-8% gradient polyacrylamide-SDS gel.
Storage : This product is packaged aseptically, lyophilized, and sealed under vacuum. Store at 2-8ºC prior to reconstitution. Following reconstitution, use immediately; Do not store. Do not freeze.
Concentration : Protein concentration is determined by the Bradford method using bovine serum albumin as the standard.
Reconstitution : Each vial, when reconstituted with 0.5 ml of sterile purified water, contains 100 ug of C. difficile toxin A enterotoxin in 50 mM Tris, pH 7.5, 50 mM NaCl, and 0.1 % trehalose. Handle product gently; do not vortex.
