Description: The protein encoded by this gene is a homodimeric integral membrane gelatinase belonging to the serine protease family. This protein is thought to be involved in the control of fibroblast growth or epithelial-mesenchymal interactions during development, tissue repair, and epithelial carcinogenesis.
