Description : | The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This protein is a potent epithelial cell-specific growth factor, whose mitogenic activity is predominantly exhibited in keratinocytes but not in fibroblasts and endothelial cells. Studies of mouse and rat homologs of this gene implicated roles in morphogenesis of epithelium, reepithelialization of wounds, hair development and early lung organogenesis. |
Conjugation : | HIS |
Tissue specificity : | Epithelial cell. |
Biological activity : | Bioactivity is assayed by measuring the dose dependent effect of Human KGF on proliferation of Mouse BaF3 transfected with FGF3 receptor. The ED50 for this batch is 5.6 ng/ml corresponding to specific activity of 0.15 x 106 U/mg. |
Form : | Lyophilised:Reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile water to a concentration of no less than 100 μg/ml. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). |
Purity : | >95% by SDS-PAGE |
Storage buffer : | Preservative: NoneConstituents: PBS, pH 7.2 |
Storage : | The lyophilized protein is stable for a few weeks at room temperature, but best stored at -20°C. |
Sequence Similarities : | Belongs to the heparin-binding growth factors family. |
