Description : | Inosine-5"-monophosphate dehydrogenase 1, also known as IMPDH1 catalyzes the synthesis of xanthine monophosphate (XMP) from inosine-5"-monophosphate (IMP). Also, IMPDH1 is a ubiquitously expressed enzyme, functioning as a homotetramer, which catalyzed the rate-limiting step in de novo synthesis of guanine nucleotides. As such, it plays an important role in cyclic nucleoside metabolism within photoreceptors. Defects in the IMPDH1 gene are a cause of retinitis pigmentosa type 10. |

Ask a questionIt is expressed in a wide range of tissues and organs, including liver, kidney, heart, muscle and immune system, among others.
This is involved in the regulation of purine metabolism in immune cells, affecting T cell activation and immune cell function.
It is highly expressed in tumor cells. It is involved in the regulation of purine metabolism and nucleic acid synthesis, and plays an important role in cell proliferation and survival.
IMPDH1 mutations may be associated with some drug resistance, because IMPDH1 is a key enzyme in purine nucleotide synthesis and plays an important role in drug treatment.
The interacts with molecules such as mTOR signaling pathway, GTpase-activating proteins and uric acid.
Mutations in IMPDH1 can cause genetic diseases such as carnivorous syphilis, immune-related diseases and neurological disorders.
