CREM

  • Official Full Name

    cAMP responsive element modulator

  • Overview

This gene encodes a bZIP transcription factor that binds to the cAMP responsive element found in many viral and cellular promoters. It is an important component of cAMP-mediated signal transduction during the spermatogenetic cycle, as well as other complex processes. Alternative promoter and translation initiation site usage allows this gene to exert spatial and temporal specificity to cAMP responsiveness. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding several different isoforms have been found for this gene, with some of them functioning as activators and some as repressors of transcription.

CREM has several biochemical functions, for example, DNA binding, cAMP response element binding protein binding, core promoter sequence-specific DNA binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by CREM itself. We selected most functions CREM had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with CREM. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

CREM has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with CREM here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of CREM.
