Official Full Name
Fos-related antigen 1

Overview
Fos-related antigen 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the FOSL1 gene. The Fos gene family consists of 4 members: FOS, FOSB, FOSL1, and FOSL2. These genes encode leucine zipper proteins that can dimerize with proteins of the JUN family, thereby forming the transcription factor complex AP-1. As such, the FOS proteins have been implicated as regulators of cell proliferation, differentiation, and transformation. -

FOSL1 has several biochemical functions, for example, RNA polymerase II core promoter proximal region sequence-specific DNA binding, protein binding, transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II core promoter proximal region sequence-specific binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by FOSL1 itself. We selected most functions FOSL1 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with FOSL1. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

Q&As (5)
Ask a questionYes, preclinical studies and early-phase clinical trials are exploring the potential synergistic effects of combining FOSL1 inhibitors with other targeted therapies to enhance treatment efficacy.
High expression levels of FOSL1 have been associated with poor prognosis and shorter overall survival in various cancer patients.
FOSL1 regulates the tumor microenvironment by promoting angiogenesis, immune evasion, and metastasis, thus contributing to cancer progression and spread.
Although the specific side effects may vary, common adverse effects of FOSL1-targeted therapies may include gastrointestinal disturbances, fatigue, and immunological reactions.
Dysregulated FOSL1 expression can disrupt cellular homeostasis, leading to uncontrolled cell proliferation, evasion of cell death, and genomic instability, all of which contribute to tumorigenesis.
