Official Full Name
follistatin

Overview
Follistatin is a single-chain gonadal protein that specifically inhibits follicle-stimulating hormone release. The single FST gene encodes two isoforms, FST317 and FST344 containing 317 and 344 amino acids respectively, resulting from alternative splicing of the precursor mRNA. In a study in which 37 candidate genes were tested for linkage and association with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or hyperandrogenemia in 150 families, evidence was found for linkage between PCOS and follistatin. FST has several biochemical functions, for example, activin binding, heparan sulfate proteoglycan binding, protein binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by FST itself. We selected most functions FST had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with FST. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

FST has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with FST here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of FST.
