GABRE

  • Official Full Name

gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) A receptor, epsilon

  • Overview

The product of this gene belongs to the ligand-gated ionic channel (TC 1.A.9) family. It encodes the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) A receptor which is a multisubunit chloride channel that mediates the fastest inhibitory synaptic transmission in the central nervous system. This gene encodes an epsilon subunit. It is mapped to chromosome Xq28 in a cluster comprised of genes encoding alpha 3, beta 4 and theta subunits of the same receptor. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified, but only one is thought to encode a protein.

GABRE has several biochemical functions, for example, GABA-A receptor activity, contributes_to benzodiazepine receptor activity, chloride channel activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by GABRE itself. We selected most functions GABRE had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with GABRE. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

GABRE has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with GABRE here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of GABRE.
