IRF4

Official Full Name
interferon regulatory factor 4

Overview
The MUM1 (Multiple Myeloma Oncogene 1) gene was originally identified because of its involvement in the t(6;14) translocation observed in multiple myeloma, which causes juxtaposition of the MUM1 gene to the Ig heavy-chain locus. MUM1 is expressed in a wide spectrum of lymphoid neoplasms but not in myeloid and extra-hematopoitic tumors. MUM1 is a valuable marker for understanding and characterizing histogenesis of B-cell lymphomas. It is an excellent marker for Reed-Sternberg cells of classic Hodgkin’s disease. -

IRF4 has several biochemical functions, for example, RNA polymerase II core promoter proximal region sequence-specific DNA binding, protein binding, protein-lysine N-methyltransferase activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by IRF4 itself. We selected most functions IRF4 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with IRF4. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
