PGR

Official Full Name
progesterone receptor

Overview
This gene encodes a member of the steroid receptor superfamily. The encoded protein mediates the physiological effects of progesterone, which plays a central role in reproductive events associated with the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy. This gene uses two distinct promotors and translation start sites in the first exon to produce two isoforms, A and B. The two isoforms are identical except for the additional 165 amino acids found in the N-terminus of isoform B and mediate their own response genes and physiologic effects with little overlap. PGR has several biochemical functions, for example, ATPase binding, DNA binding, RNA polymerase II core promoter proximal region sequence-specific DNA binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by PGR itself. We selected most functions PGR had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with PGR. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

PGR has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with PGR here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of PGR.
