  • Official Full Name
  • prominin 2
  • Background
  • This gene encodes a member of the prominin family of pentaspan membrane glycoproteins. The encoded protein localizes to basal epithelial cells and may be involved in the organization of plasma membrane microdomains. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

Protein Function

PROM2 has several biochemical functions, for example, cholesterol binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by PROM2 itself. We selected most functions PROM2 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with PROM2. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
