  • Overview

    Monoclonal mouse anti-prostein recognizes a 553 amino acid protein that was identified by cDNA library subtraction in conjunction with high-throughput microarray screening of prostate adenocarcinoma. The prostein protein, also called P501S, is predicted to be a type IIIa plasma membrane protein which has been shown to be exclusively expressed in cells of normal and malignant prostate by Northern blot, cDNA microarray, real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry. Prostein expression has not been detected in other normal or malignant glandular tissues with the exception of 2/35 urothelial carcinomas where the immunostain was weak and present in less than 25% of tumor cells.
