SPR

  • Official Full Name

    sepiapterin reductase (7,8-dihydrobiopterin:NADP+ oxidoreductase)

  • Overview

    This gene encodes an aldo-keto reductase that catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of pteridine derivatives and is important in the biosynthesis of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4). Mutations in this gene result in DOPA-responsive dystonia due to sepiaterin reductase deficiency. A pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 1.
  • Synonyms

    SPR; sepiapterin reductase (7,8-dihydrobiopterin:NADP+ oxidoreductase); sepiapterin reductase; SDR38C1; short chain dehydrogenase/reductase family 38C; member 1; OTTHUMP00000160199; short chain dehydrogenase/reductase family 38C, member 1; SPRE_HUMAN;

Ask a question
How to study the biological function of SPR proteins? 11/07/2019

Studying the biological function of SPR proteins requires a variety of experimental techniques and methods, such as cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry and genomics. By observing gene expression, cell proliferation, signal transduction and other indicators, the biological function of SPR protein in cells can be evaluated.

What are the possible applications of SPR protein in future medical and scientific research? 08/27/2019

With the in-depth understanding of the structure and function of SPR protein, the drug development and application of SPR protein will be more extensive in the future. For example, the development of drugs that target the SPR protein may be used to treat tumors, autoimmune diseases, and neurological diseases. In addition, understanding the biological function of SPR proteins may also be useful for research in other areas of science.

What is the structure of the SPR protein? 07/13/2019

SPR proteins have multiple domains, including calcium-binding domains, kinase domains, and regulatory domains. Among them, the calcium ion binding domain can bind to calcium ions, the kinase domain can phosphorylate downstream proteins, and the regulatory domain can regulate the activity and stability of proteins.

How does SPR protein regulate gene expression regulation? 06/30/2019

SPR proteins can interact with a variety of transcription factors, such as NF-kB, AP-1, and CREB. Once interacting with these transcription factors, SPR proteins can regulate gene transcription and expression, influencing the biological behavior of cells.

What are the applications of SPR protein in drug discovery? 04/11/2019

Due to the important role of SPR protein in cell signal transduction and gene expression regulation, drug development targeting SPR protein is of great significance. At present, some drugs targeting SPR proteins have entered clinical trials for the treatment of some human diseases.

How are SPR proteins involved in cell signaling? 01/31/2019

During cell signaling, SPR proteins can interact with G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and are activated by GPCRs. Once activated, SPR proteins can phosphorylate downstream proteins such as MAPK and AKT to further regulate intracellular signal transduction.
