SIRT5

  • Official Full Name

    sirtuin 5

  • Overview

Sirtuin family of proteins that is important in aging, metabolism and disease. SIRT5 is expressed in a variety of tissues. Two different isoform have been described. Isoform 1 is reported to be express in the mitochondria and cytoplasm while isoform 2 appears to be localized to the mitochondria only. SIRT5 has also been linked to many primate-specific functions. SIRT5 has recently been implicated as having a role in adaptation to fasting, caloric restriction and high protein diets.

SIRT5 has several biochemical functions, for example, NOT NAD+ ADP-ribosyltransferase activity, NAD+ binding, protein-glutaryllysine deglutarylase activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by SIRT5 itself. We selected most functions SIRT5 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with SIRT5. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

SIRT5 has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with SIRT5 here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of SIRT5.
