  • Official Full Name
  • vesicle-associated membrane protein 8 (endobrevin)
  • Background
  • This gene encodes an integral membrane protein that belongs to the synaptobrevin/vesicle-associated membrane protein subfamily of soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptors (SNAREs). The encoded protein is involved in the fusion of synaptic vesicles with the presynaptic membrane.
  • Synonyms

Protein Function

VAMP8 has several biochemical functions, for example, SNAP receptor activity, SNARE binding, chloride channel inhibitor activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by VAMP8 itself. We selected most functions VAMP8 had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with VAMP8. You can find most of the proteins on our site.
