VEGFB

  • Official Full Name

    vascular endothelial growth factor B

  • Overview

This gene encodes a member of the PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor)/VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) family. The VEGF family members regulate the formation of blood vessels and are involved in endothelial cell physiology. This member is a ligand for VEGFR-1 (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1) and NRP-1 (neuropilin-1). Studies in mice showed that this gene was co-expressed with nuclear-encoded mitochondrial genes and the encoded protein specifically controlled endothelial uptake of fatty acids. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.

VEGFB has several biochemical functions, for example, chemoattractant activity, growth factor activity, heparin binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by VEGFB itself. We selected most functions VEGFB had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with VEGFB. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

VEGFB has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with VEGFB here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of VEGFB.
