IFNB

Official Full Name
interferon beta

Overview
The IFN-β proteins are produced in large quantities by fibroblasts. They have antiviral activity that is involved mainly in innate immune response. Two types of IFN-β have been described, IFN-β1 (IFNB1) and IFN-β3 (IFNB3) (a gene designated IFN-β2 is actually IL-6). IFN-β1 is used as a treatment for multiple sclerosis as it reduces the relapse rate.IFN-β1 is not an appropriate treatment for patients with progressive, non-relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis. -

IFNB has several biochemical functions, for example, cytokine activity, type I interferon receptor binding. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by IFNB itself. We selected most functions IFNB had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with IFNB. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

IFNB has direct interactions with proteins and molecules. Those interactions were detected by several methods such as yeast two hybrid, co-IP, pull-down and so on. We selected proteins and molecules interacted with IFNB here. Most of them are supplied by our site. Hope this information will be useful for your research of IFNB.
