Product Overview :
Significance of Measurement: Acetaldehyde dehydrogenase (EC 1.2.1.10) is widely present in animals, plants, and microorganisms. It catalyzes the oxidation of acetaldehyde to acetate and plays a central role in alcohol metabolism and cellular detoxification.
Principle of Measurement: In the presence of NAD+, acetaldehyde dehydrogenase catalyzes the conversion of acetaldehyde to acetate with concurrent production of NADH. The increase in absorbance at 340 nm is used to calculate enzyme activity.
