Product Overview :

Acid-fast staining is used for preliminary identification of Mycobacterium species. Due to the lipid-rich cell wall, heating is required to allow carbol fuchsin penetration. Acid-fast organisms resist acid–alcohol decolorization and remain red after counterstaining, while non–acid-fast organisms appear blue.
