Product Overview :

Alcian blue (pH 2.5) selectively stains acidic mucins by forming insoluble complexes with negatively charged groups, producing a blue color. Subsequent PAS staining visualizes neutral mucins in red to magenta. Mixed mucins appear purple. This combined method allows differentiation and localization of neutral and acidic mucins within the same tissue section and is widely used in gastrointestinal histology.
