Product Overview :

Alcian Blue is a copper phthalocyanine cationic dye originally developed for textile staining. Its positively charged isothiouronium groups bind negatively charged acidic groups such as carboxyl and sulfate groups in mucosubstances, forming insoluble blue complexes.
Although the exact staining mechanism is not fully understood, it is generally attributed to electrostatic interactions between cationic dye groups and polyanionic carbohydrates.
This kit contains Alcian Blue solution and counterstain and is suitable for cell samples. Acidic mucins stain blue, while nuclei appear red.
