Product Overview :

Alcian Blue is a copper-containing phthalocyanine cationic dye originally developed for textile staining. It binds electrostatically to negatively charged acidic groups such as carboxyl and sulfate groups in tissue mucopolysaccharides, forming insoluble blue complexes.
At pH 2.5, carboxyl groups are ionized and bind Alcian Blue, allowing visualization of carboxylated acidic mucins such as proteoglycans, hyaluronic acid, and epithelial acidic mucins. Neutral mucins do not react with Alcian Blue.
This staining kit contains Alcian Blue solution (pH 2.5) and nuclear fast red counterstain. Acidic mucins appear blue, while nuclei are counterstained red.
