Product Overview :
Significance of Measurement: Most calcium in blood exists in plasma, primarily as ionized calcium and protein-bound calcium. Only ionized calcium is physiologically active. Blood calcium levels are critical for many physiological functions, and abnormal levels can impair normal function. This kit is designed for the determination of free calcium concentration in blood.
Principle of Measurement: In strongly alkaline conditions, free calcium reacts with GBHA to form a red calcium–GBHA complex with a characteristic absorbance at 520 nm. Calcium concentration is calculated based on absorbance at this wavelength.
