Description :
Giardia and Cryptosporidium cause gastrointestinal illness in dogs, while Trichomonas foetus can lead to reproductive issues in both male and female dogs. These parasites are transmitted through contaminated water or feces and are typically diagnosed via fecal tests.
Giardia duodenalis causes diarrhea, vomiting, and weight loss in dogs. Transmission occurs via ingestion of contaminated sources.
Cryptosporidium spp. cause diarrhea and vomiting and can be transmitted zoonotically.
Trichomonas foetus is a protozoan causing vaginitis, prostatitis, and infertility. It spreads through sexual contact or during birth and is diagnosed via fecal or cytological exams.
Applications :
• For detection in anal swabs and fecal samples.
• Fecal samples should be briefly centrifuged to pellet debris.
• Suitable for qualitative detection of Giardia spp., Cryptosporidium spp., T. foetus, and canine β-actin DNA.
