Product Overview :
Cryptococcus neoformans is commonly detected using India ink staining, especially in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from patients suspected of central nervous system cryptococcal infection. However, in practical applications, India ink staining is highly susceptible to interference from impurities and cellular components, resulting in a low detection rate. This limitation is particularly evident during the early or recovery stages of CNS infection, when the number of cryptococcal cells is low and easily missed.
This kit employs the Alcian blue staining method, which provides high staining specificity and clear coloration, effectively improving the detection rate of Cryptococcus.
