Description :

Feline coronavirus (FCoV) infections can range widely in clinical presentation, from asymptomatic cases to mild gastrointestinal symptoms. In a small percentage of cases, cats infected with FCoV may develop Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), caused by a mutated strain of the virus.
Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is triggered by a mutated strain of feline coronavirus known as Feline Infectious Peritonitis Virus (FIPV). This condition occurs when the mutated virus enters the cat’s white blood cells and provokes an abnormal immune response, leading to inflammation of the cat’s organs. FIP is a progressive and often fatal disease that may cause a variety of symptoms, including fever, weight loss, and fluid accumulation in the abdomen, chest, or around the heart. There is currently no cure, and treatment focuses on symptom management and supportive care.
