Significance of Measurement: Iron is an essential trace element required for normal physiological function. Ferrous ions are critical components of hemoglobin, myoglobin, cytochromes, and various enzyme systems. Both iron deficiency and iron overload are associated with metabolic disorders and chronic diseases.
Principle of Measurement: Under acidic conditions, Fe²⁺ forms a blue complex with tripyridyl-s-triazine, which exhibits a characteristic absorption peak at 593 nm. Fe²⁺ content is calculated by measuring absorbance at this wavelength.
