Product Overview :

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) include hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), hydroxyl radicals (•OH), singlet oxygen (¹O₂), nitric oxide (NO), superoxide anions (•O₂^-), peroxyl radicals (ROO•), hydroperoxyl radicals (HOO•), and downstream products such as peroxides, peroxynitrite (ONOO^-), hypochlorite (ClO^-), and hydroxylated derivatives. ROS play critical roles in cell proliferation, differentiation, aging, apoptosis, and numerous physiological and pathological processes.
DHE is a cell-permeable fluorescent probe that is specifically oxidized by ROS to generate a red fluorescent product. The fluorescence intensity is proportional to ROS levels: ROS-negative cells show weak fluorescence, whereas ROS-positive cells exhibit strong red fluorescence. ROS levels in tissue sections can be evaluated by observing fluorescence intensity.
This kit is suitable for ROS staining of vibratome sections or fresh frozen sections. ROS are largely lost during paraffin embedding; therefore, paraffin sections are generally not recommended.
