Product Overview :
Calcofluor white (CFW) is a non-specific fluorescent brightener that binds β-linked glucosides such as cellulose and chitin. In plant biology, it is used to visualize cell wall formation during biosynthesis in algae and higher plants, as well as for identifying protoplasts.
The Fungal Fluorescent Staining Kit (CFW method) consists of CFW staining solution and CFW diluent and is suitable for rapid detection of fungal samples. The staining solution contains fluorescent dye and background-suppressing agents. When fungal elements are present, the dye binds to β-polysaccharides in fungal cell walls, such as chitin and cellulose, producing blue fluorescence under UV excitation. The CFW diluent helps dissolve keratin, facilitating clearer observation of fungal structures.
