Product Overview :
Significance: Glucose is the primary substrate for cellular energy metabolism and a key precursor for biosynthetic pathways. In plants, glucose is produced through photosynthesis. In mammals, glucose serves as the major energy source for the brain, nervous system, muscle, and adipose tissues and is closely associated with the synthesis of reducing cofactors, lactose, and lipids.
Principle: Glucose oxidase catalyzes the oxidation of glucose to gluconic acid with the production of hydrogen peroxide. In the presence of peroxidase, hydrogen peroxide oxidizes 4-aminoantipyrine and phenol to form a colored compound with a characteristic absorbance at 505 nm.
