Product Overview :
Glutamate synthase (GOGAT) is mainly present in prokaryotes, yeast, and plastids of non-green tissues in higher plants. Together with glutamine synthetase (GS), it forms the GS/GOGAT cycle and regulates ammonia assimilation.
GOGAT catalyzes the transfer of the amide group from glutamine to α-ketoglutarate using NADH as an electron donor. The decrease in NADH absorbance at 340 nm reflects enzyme activity.
